Its time to jump head first into 2017 in Streaky Bay!
Over the summer holiday period it is a tradition for visitors to flock to the coastline around the Streaky Bay region in large numbers.
After Christmas Day the population swells in the district as people come to see family, new travellers arrive and regular holidaymakers return to their favourite destination.
Heading into 2017 the town and region will come alive over the festive season with a swag of unique and entertaining events for visitors and families to attend.
Bring in the New Year with the FREE Childrens Festival and Fireworks along the foreshore on Friday 31 December from 6pm. Continue the festive celebration at the century old tradition of Perlubie Sports Day on New Years Day. If you are staying a while longer then cast a line with all the family at the popular FREE Family Fish Day at the iconic Streaky Bay Jetty on Saturday 7 January 2017. Register from 8:30am. Round out the day by dancing your Saturday night away to talented local musos and DJ’s at the Beats on the Bay event from 8pm until late.
Experience what Streaky Bay has to offer while here with a wide variety of things to do and places to see to keep you in holiday mode. Immerse yourself in one of our internationally acclaimed tours for an intimate encounter. Take in the array of native flora and experience our wildlife at play in our pristine enviroment…nature at its best!
Explore our breathtaking coastline around our scenic drives and trails. Dive in at our beautiful beaches and catch a swag while fishing our surf beaches, pristine bays or perhaps off the jetty. The Eyre Peninsula offers a unique and sumptuous food bowl famously known as Australias Seafood Frontier. In Streaky Bay enjoy your culinary adventure at one of our funky cafes or restaurants with family and friends.
A New Year Festive brochure was introduced by Council in recent years to ensure that visitors were informed and stayed safe as they travelled and interacted around the Streaky Bay region.
Jayne Holland, President, Streaky Bay Tourism says, “The festive brochure is a ‘one stop shop’ with all the important information that visitors need over this busy period. It is a great Council initiative that Streaky Bay Tourism and the community wholeheartedly support.”
The friendly staff at the Visitor Information Centre located at 21 Bay Road in the Streaky Bay CBD will be on hand over all non-public holidays to provide valuable information to visitors.
