Streaky Bay Tourism in partnership with their membership and the District Council of Streaky Bay will join Regional Development Australia, Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula (RDAWEP) at the 2018 Let’s Go Caravan & Camping Show to be held at the Adelaide Showgrounds Wednesday 14– Sunday 18 February.
The ‘Let’s Go Caravan and Camping Lifestyle Show’ is an annual trade event held in Adelaide each February. It is one of the major trade events held in South Australia that caters specifically to the caravan and camping market.
Streaky Bay Tourisms move to join the RADAWEP on the 6 x 3m stand is supported by strong market data statistics. Tourism Research Australia data statistics show that for the year ending 2016 there was the highest recorded annual growth in domestic caravanning and camping overnight trips and visitor nights since data was first recorded in 1998. Further to this 23% of visitors to the Eyre Peninsula (EP) are Caravan and camping visitors which is a big portion of our visitation. In addition, 73% of visitors to the Eyre Peninsula are intrastate visitors. Of that 73% other SA regions contributes 36% of visitors to the Eyre Peninsula and; Adelaide visitors contribute 37% of the visitors.
Jayne Holland, President, Streaky Bay Tourism says, “From these strong visitor stats we anticipate that our specific target market will be the people walking through the doors at the ‘Let’s Go Caravan and Camping Lifestyle Show.’ With the growth in the caravan and camping industry and such a high number of visitors coming from within South Australia and Adelaide our Committee and membership want to capitalise on this marketing opportunity and bring economic benefits back to our region.”
The event will enable Streaky Bay Tourism to connect ‘one on one’, face to face with new and existing consumers who may potentially visit our region. Streaky Bay Tourism and partners will present a visual and interactive stand; implement the online survey, provide giveaways; and have merchandise sales over the four days to interact with the consumer base and gain immediate feedback that will assist to understand better why people want to visit the region and how we can collaborate better to make that happen.
