Streaky Bay Inaugural Music Festival – Streaky Sounds

The Choirboys and British India have been announced as the headline acts of the inaugural Streaky Sounds Music Festival. The festival has been announced for the 11th June 2023 at the Streaky Bay Recreation Reserve.

Choirboys are one of Australia’s most authentic pub rock icons, having released a swag of enduring rock anthems including Run To Paradise, Boys Will Be Boys, Never Gonna Die and many more.

Choirboys are renowned for a great live show, it’s not just the music it’s the atmosphere they bring to the stage. The grafting, sweating, pulverizing, pounding, screaming – doing what they do best.  Entertaining an audience by spilling their hearts and souls onto the stage.  You just don’t get much more Rock ‘n Roll than that.

British India have emerged from the underbelly of the Melbourne Indi rock scene with a love of music and a driving determination that turned four high school friends into a fierce garage band, who quickly gained a reputation for explosive live shows and the ability to write great pop songs.

In 2008 their single ‘I said I’m sorry’ saw the band in the ‘Hottest 100’ for the second time with the album debuting nationally at No 5 receiving 3 aria nominations. By the years end British India had become one of the most popular rock bands in the country.

They scored their first Gold Record with the hit ‘I can make you love me’ selling over 50,000 copies on iTunes. Over a 10-year period British India have notched up 8 entries into the Hottest 100, released 6 albums, have played at every major festival in the country, and have headlined over 800 shows.

Supporting the two headline acts will be South Australian band’s Audio Reign and Revel, as well as numerous Eyre Peninsula acts, including Jodi Martin, Joshy Willlo, Sharon Moore, DJ Taijyyy & DJ Dyl D and Bonkers. The family friendly event will not only feature live music but will also have kid’s activities and food vans for those in attendance.

In speaking about the event, District Council of Streaky Bay Mayor Travis Barber had said “Its great to be bringing these two great bands to Streaky Bay and putting on this amazing event. In facilitating the event, Council wanted to encourage people to come visit Streaky Bay during the winter, as well as providing locals the opportunity to attend a quality music event without leaving Streaky Bay. I can’t wait till the June long weekend for Streaky Sounds and encourage everyone to get their tickets now”.
